School attendance continues to be a concern for communities across Ohio. During both the 2023-24 and 2024-25 school years, over 25% of Ohio's students missed 10% or more of school. Chronic absence is defined in Ohio as a student missing 10% or more of the school year for any reason — excused, medically excused, unexcused, and suspensions.
Ohio's Attendance Dashboard was created to support schools, districts, and communities by providing weekly updates using real-time daily attendance data as reported by schools and districts. It serves as an early warning system to help leaders and communities identify attendance concerns and take action. It shows the percentage of enrolled students who are chronically absent based on absences to date, offers filters for school building, grade level, and specific points in time, and allows users to export data for further analysis.
